Hafsa Akram, M.D., is a family doctor who focuses on early detection of illness and helping patients manage existing health conditions. She practices the full spectrum of family medicine. She feels that chronic disease, such as heart disease and diabetes, and stroke are among the biggest health risks facing the Southern Arizona region. Dr. Akram believes that knowledge is power when it comes to living a healthy life. "I believe the patient is the first responder in the health care team," she said. "If they are empowered with the appropriate information and resources, they are able to achieve their health goals more quickly." She works to ensure all aspects of health are addressed during a visit by listening intently, providing needed resources and seeing to a patient’s emotional and mental health needs.
